Message: Hi All,

The default value of record keep time is 7 days as per CONTROL_FILE_RECORD_KEEP_TIME parameter. Does it mean the backups will be obsolete after 7 days? Or does it consider retention policy parameter value to make the backups obsolete? How do these two values impact on RMAN backups?

I tried to find what happens to the RMAN backups after 7 days if we use control file as repository with default KEEP_TIME.

Could someone please clarify my doubt?

Thanks,
Ankababu

CONTROL_FILE_RECORD_KEEP_TIME specifies the minimum number of days before a reusable record in the control file can be reused.

Message: Hi Ales,

Thank you very much for your answers.

If I do not set any retention value but KEEP_TINE is 7 days, Does it make the backup obsolete after 7 days?

Thanks,
Ankababu
