This is not the first plagiary from this guy.

His answer at http://4dag.cronos.be/village/dvp_forum.OpenThread?ThreadIdA=11137#42654 contains the well known query from catblock.sql which he did not clearly understand as most of the lock types in the first decode can't appear if you join with v$locked_objects.

His Oracle history in his site (http://www.apunhiran.com/oracle_history.html) is a copy and paste of wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oracle_database. You may also find it on several other sites.

and the most annoying is, that he will get away with it and earn credits for his sneaking and copying and that some not so experienced dbas may be blinded and rely on some of his unapproved "expert" knowledge. I'm not sure, if he tested some of his "collected" scripts anyway, but it takes just a few looks to see they are coming from different sources.

As I already said, it's a shame, nothing against the concept of a collection of several really good scripts collected from different sources (as here in dba-village), but only with a little history of where it came from and credits to the original author.

this guy is really a pathetic example of "copy cat" self-proclaimed expert. I sent him an e-mail, asking him to replace his name in the script and make an apology to Nick (not knowing that this is not his only theft, thanks Michel!).

Otherwise, I'll send a nice letter (both in e-mail and on paper, with screenshots and everything) to his current employer, Perot Systems, questioning their employee proffesional and ethical habits. (Not that I'm naive in thinking that this will actually help, we're living in a big World, where intellectual property is a relative term).

For example, awhile ago someone on www.orafaq.org was selling a "tip" on the forum on how to prepare Developer Runtime environment, demanding 20$ for this paper, which was really my paper published on the very same site years ago. :-(

Message: Hello Sir,
I had already apologized on this copy issue. Let me do it again. I have used Nick's RMAN for a long time abt 2yrs. It just so happened that while implementing it on some server, I happened to change the name and that's the copy lying with me and so I just uploaded it. I did not have track of where the script was downloaded, because of sheer time it had been since I first used it. Once told about it I did change it right away.
I am very thankful for Nick to write such a great script, and by mistake this change happened and I realize my mistake. You all have been trying to brand me as a thief etc etc. I might not be as great a DBA as you are but, may be dont have that many years of exp., but I do my DBA stuff fairly well.
I hope you understand and I am sincere in my apologies and do not mean to copy anything, there are very usefull information on the web and I do not wish to take credit off people of their work.
Once again, I am sorry about this issue.
After all this mistake, i have mentioned the name of the author on the website. I am trying my best not to do such a grave mistake again. I look on to great DBAs like you and wish to learn. Most of the things on the website are feeds, I dont even mention my name anywhere, or claim that I have written the docs. Where ever I have know I have put the names of the authors.
I hope you are kind enough to forgive me.

The reason no one is likely to trust you is very simple. If you look at the web site it says the following.

This Account Has Been Suspended

Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible.

In one of your messages you state:

I bring down both the website, to show the respect I have toward all of you. Once the site connectivity resolves, I will take the site off the web.

The first message indicates an issue with you hosting company having suspended your account presumably on the basis of copyright infringement. That is not the same as a connectivity issue or YOU having brought down the web site.

Personally I have no problem with people using my scripts (if I did I wouldn't have publihed it) etc etc etc, but to try and rebrand my script as your own was very insulting. Even my comments which have my warped sense of humour were left the same. There were two techniques I used in that script that stand out to me as it took me quite a while to get working. The first I've never seen before or since used. The second I've never seen used in the context I used it.

Another reason you will find people distrust you is that it wasn't only this piece of work that stood out as originating elsewhere. I noticed several others including the contents of a book that I have.

Nick.

I wrote: It seems they finally understand who is this guy
and he answered: They had some help. ;-)

Now prove you understand and are a valuable guy,
build a new site with only your work,
possibly links (but not copy) to others.

See J. Lewis blog at http://jonathanlewis.wordpress.com/ to learn to work with other's work.
If you want to publish scripts, see Frank Pachot's description on
http://www.dba-village.com/village/dvp_scripts.ScriptDetails?ScriptIdA=3728
He clearly said where he got his information and how he worked with J. Lewis to build HIS script.
A good ethical lesson. Not so hard.

Message: Thanks you Sir, This whole issue has definitely shook me from within. I promise you all that such an act will not be done again by me. If you are ok, I would like to publish my stuff through this website. I am done with the idea of making a website. Probably in the spree on posting stuff on the website I did not take the pain of verifing the source of the stuff well.
Thanks to all for saving me from continuing the crime.
Nick,
As for my website, it was a shared space I was using along with someone. I had done the payments to that person instead of the web hosting company. So i did not know abt the site going down etc. When I said connentivity, I meant once the site comes back up, I will take it down, as whenever the person make the payment, the site will come up again by itself.
Thanks and apologies once again.
I dont want to remain branded as a theif, I remorse my act and apologize.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
