Message: ramez nabil,

Are you importing to the same version of database (is it the same database)? How did you create the database you are importing into?

There was another posting of the same type of problem (different error code but along the same lines). Perhaps you can try to respond to that thread and see if they ever found an answer to the problem.

Message: Hi Tim
its the same database that the backup file was created from, Thank u for the link of the thread.

actually i have 3 diff. datatype on this table
number
varchar2
date

i'd modify the number columns to NUMBER(38)
i'd modify the varchar2 to VARCHAR(4000)

I still have the same problem

Message: Hi ramez,

based on what you wrote, it's very likely your export dump file is simply corrupt. Can you repeat the export or perhaps try import with some older dump file?

Anyway, refer to Metalink note:

185229.1 "Import Fails with IMP-00058, ORA-1438 Errors"

Ales

Message: Hi Ales
Actually the table that has the problem was dropped, i can get it only from the backup files, also i tried to import from many backup files but the same problem appears.
The only backup file that was restored correctly is 2 month old.
Is there any way to show the data on this table from the backup file?

regards,
Ramez Nabil

Message: Hi Ramez,

not an easy task I'm afraid. You can use strings and try to grep the content of dmp file.

In this thread I mentioned using strings on Windows:
