Message: Hi,

I want to Steps to convert database from 2 node RAC to single node and simultaneously migrate from 1 server to another server.
The approach should be considered which will give least downtime.
Database size is approximately 7TB.

Thanx,

Message: If you are going to just make it a single node RAC rather than a non-RAC environment then I personally would just do the following.

Install the appropriate software on the new server. Add the server to the RAC environment as a new node. Remove the older two nodes.

Simple..

Tim

Moving from a RAC environment to a non-RAC environment should not be difficult. The ability to migrate with the "least" downtime is going to depend on resources available.

Example. If you have an additional 7TB of space available then I would create a physical standby instance on the new server. Activate the physical standby when you are ready to migrate and turn off the original instance.

If you don't have an addition 7 TB to spare then it may take a little longer. I think however, and others can correct me if I am wrong. You should install the same database version of the software on the new server (minus the GRID and RAC software).

Go through the process of converting the RAC to a non-RAC environment.

https://manidba.wordpress.com/2011/03/15/convert-oracle-rac-instance-to-single-non-rac-instace/

Then you should be able to do a "normal" database migration by what ever means you want.

Regards
Tim
