Message: Hi All,
We have some doubts on allocating auxiliary channels while performing active duplicate in rman.

1. Can auxiliary channel type tape be used while active duplication ?

2. Are auxiliary channels compulsory in active duplication ?

3. Can active duplication happen without any auxiliary channels at all ?

Please help clearing the above doubts.

Message: Hello Indrajit,

if you want to use ACTIVE duplicate, you do not duplicate via a backup (that could be read from tapes for example) but directly from a database.

If you don't understand that you duplicate from a database, what do you call "active duplication"?

Best regards,

Bruno Vroman.

I understand active duplicate. My only doubt was whether an auxiliary channel type tape can be used while performing active duplicate.
