Os info: Linux+Unix+Windows
Oracle info: 11g+12c+OEM
Error info: NA
Message: Recently I've achieved Infrastructure Manager position and I got a Job as an Infrastracture Manager to manage DBAs, windows and Unix Teams in startup company.

So, I would like to know comprehensive list of DBA related tasks especially Oracle DBA, Oracle E-Business suite 12.2.x and MS SQL server Routine Tasks, Checklists, Operations etc based on Oracle Database 11g and latest version(s), I prefer something below:

1. Daily
2. Weekly and
3. Monthly

I need your kind help especially from the senior experts here having DBA managerial role or senior level roles. Basically idea is to improve overall operations and implementations and minimize the use of resources as much as possible. Improvements with less human intervention.

Message: Hello Jade,

I won't reply to your question (maybe you cas ask to your team what they are doing; simply insist on "things have to be documented") but I want to make one remark because many people jump to a wrong conclusion...
When you see "Oracle E-Business suite", you see Oracle and maybe you think "this is for the Oracle DBA"... Would you see something like "Fidessa Sentinel financial software", or "Siebel ..." or "Wonderful Application", you would think "this is for an application administrator, not for the database administrator".

So be aware that "OEBS" is an application, to be maintained by an application administrator, not an Oracle DBA.
It is true that OEBS is maybe more "intricated" in the Oracle database than another application, but thinking that an Oracle DBA is the right role is wrong; many aspects of OEBS are "weird" for a "standard DBA" and this appli really deserves and needs special knowledge.
(just to give an example: in a database used to host OEBS the DBA should NOT maintain statistics like in another database; OEBS uses its own procedures FND_... and internal scheduler to take care of statistics)

Best regards,

Bruno Vroman.

Message: Thanks for the update Bruno.. I understand and I am planning to highlight this to the management. However, I would appreciate it if you can share the list of DBA specific tasks for better understanding. I only got the cloning and backup related document so far.

Message: If I am understanding your postings, you want to help automate some items to reduce the workload and what has to be routinely completed.

This is going to totally depend on the your system architecture, the tools you have in place, the type of monitoring you have, and what is already automated.

If you don't know the system then you need to work with those who have been on the system longest and understand the system, the work they do, the pain points and what is "routine" that could be automated.

If you still want some types of lists....then just google or look at the documentation for the area you are interested in.

Example:

Oracle Checklists....
https://docs.oracle.com/database/121/nav/portal_4.htm
"Essentials" covers everyday database administration tasks, as performed using the Enterprise Manager GUI."

And if you look under the "Essentials" you see the 2-day DBA document. And in Section 1.3 there is Common Oracle DBA Tasks. Where you can find things DBAs normally "do" on a system.

https://community.oracle.com/thread/529294
...Notice one of the posts actually states the automation he has put into place to address the "daily tasks" that one DBA proposed....
