Message: Hi everyone,

I faced few questions recently in one of the interviews and I tried search the answer in the google but I felt those are not the answers which am looking for.

So here is my questions

1). Control file is deleted when the Db is up and running , then what happens to the database in this case?

2). network/admin is deleted when the DB is up and running. What will happen to the users which are already connected and the new connections possible( I said no) ?

3). How we can recreate these listener.ora and tnsnames.ora files when the file system level backup is not available?

4). How can we rename the control file through RMAN?

Thank you.

1). Control file is deleted when the Db is up and running , then what happens to the database in this case?

You will get an error definately

ORA-00210: cannot open the specified control file

2) network/admin is deleted when the DB is up and running. What will happen to the users which are already connected
and the new connections possible( I said no) ?

For connected user -> No problem
For users -> Cannot establish a connection

3). How we can recreate these listener.ora and tnsnames.ora files when the file system level backup is not available?

Why do you need File System backup
To recreate network configuration files you need netmgr or netca is more than enough.

These are text files ..
Simply you can recreate with appropriate information.

4). How can we rename the control file through RMAN?

Renaming or Relocating both are same.
You have to put DB in Mount phase.

Using pfile and spfile -Both are possible
First Take controlfile backup through RMAN

Simple GooGle will give complete steps.

Thanks
Jhil
