Message: Hi,

I don't see a cleat transformation from RDBMS to Big Data DBA the way you expect to. If you wish to become Big Data (BD) professional, then you're likely on your way to become BG developer, because programming skills are imho closely related/dependent to BD management itself, almost indistinguishable.
If you don't see yourself as a BD developer, then you'll likely fail mastering BD tech stack.

If I were a few decades younger and interested in Big Data, I would concentrate on Apache stack (Spark on top of Hadoop and/or Cassandra - depending of the type of the project) and getting proficient with python, R and Go.
I would not waste my time with "other" NoSQL products and would certainly stay away from anything offered by Oracle with BD label.
Imho the vast majority of data sources for BD are IoT devices, and among those the car industry is slowly evolving to become one of the biggest data collectors, I believe the demand for BD/IoT/BI professionals will explode in this sector.

Regards,
Ales
