Oracle info: Oracle12c
Message: Hi,

We currently have the following in one of the Oracle RAC services

We want to change Disconnect: true to Disconnect: false but we can't find any option in srvctl modify that does that. We've already logged a SR and they don't have a clue either, here's hoping someone has done it before.

NOTE:
I've changed some of the customer specific values so there may be some typo errors.

$ srvctl config service -d "testdb"
Service name: testdb_app
Server pool:
Cardinality: 1
Disconnect: true
Service role: PRIMARY
Management policy: AUTOMATIC
DTP transaction: false
AQ HA notifications: false
Global: false
Commit Outcome: false
Failover type: NONE
Failover method: NONE
TAF failover retries: 10
TAF failover delay: 3
Connection Load Balancing Goal: LONG
Runtime Load Balancing Goal: NONE
TAF policy specification: NONE
Edition:
Pluggable database name:
Maximum lag time: ANY
SQL Translation Profile:
Retention: 86400 seconds
Replay Initiation Time: 300 seconds
Session State Consistency:
GSM Flags: 0
Service is enabled
Preferred instances: testdb13
Available instances: testdb11, testdb12

We don't know why is it at Disconnect: true either as we usually create the service as Disconnect: false. In an attempt to replicate the problem we create a test service that is at Disconnect: false and trying out almost all available option to what may have set it to Disconnect: true but we can't replicate setting it to Disconnect: true. We've turned off TAF, DTP and uses -force as well and it stays at Disconnect: false.

The only other option I can think of is to remove and add the service :( We want to avoid having to do that if possible.

Message: Hi BenBart,

I'm sorry, that I do not have a solution for you, but I'm curious: do you have a reason for not simply deleting and recreating the service?

This would not take long, so I'm really not sure what keeps you from doing that.

Regards,
Jan

Message: Hi Jan,

Thanks.

Yeah, that will be the final solution but that will cause a downtime. So trying to avoid that. It does seem like that is the only solution available. And yeah, like you say so, won't take long. Will try and convince the customer.

We would want to know how it has happen to be Disconnect: true. Even Oracle Support is stumped so posted it here in case someone has run into the same problem.
