Message: Hi Guys

I am trying to get the row lock information.

Below is the statement I used:

select row_wait_obj#,
row_wait_file#,
row_wait_block#,
row_wait_row#
from v$session
where sid = 589; 2 3 4 5 6

ROW_WAIT_OBJ# ROW_WAIT_FILE# ROW_WAIT_BLOCK# ROW_WAIT_ROW#
------------- -------------- --------------- -------------
-1 0 0 0

Why do I get -1?

Thanks in advance...

Please Help !!!

Message: Hi,

-1 means that you can not get ROWID by combining FILE#+BLOC#+ROW#. Most likely because your're not dealing with a heap table but IOT.
(I'm not sure how would you "pin point" exact row in this case without knowing a primary key...any one?)

Ales

Maybe you could read the documentation about V$SESSION.

Message: Hi Tso,

In addition, here is what I have found in the Oracle documentation:
"Identifier for the datafile containing the row specified in ROW_WAIT_ROW#. This column is valid only if the session is currently waiting for another transaction to commit and the value of ROW_WAIT_OBJ# is not -1."
So, from the result of your query you can deduce that your session is not "waiting".

Kind Regards,

Lauri

Nope, you can not deduce that from above query.
