Message: Hi,

I am trying to get the RMAN code to create a standby database from an RMAN backup done through Commvault.
I am not sure of the syntax of the code.

Does someone has experience with RMAN Commvault backups and standby database (DataGuard)?

Here are the steps I thought about:

Primary database unqiue name: AMS1PC1
Standby database unique name: AMS1PC1SBY

TNS name primary database: AMS1PC1
TNS name standby database: AMS1PC1SBY

1) Stap 1: connect to auxiliary (standby database to be created):

connect target sys/<password>@AMS1PC1

connect auxiliary sys/<password>@AMS1PC1SBY

2) Stap 2: backup archive logs frpm primary database:

-- Backup archivelogs
run
{
allocate channel ch1 type 'sbt_tape' PARMS="SBT_LIBRARY=/opt/simpana/commvault/Base/libobk.so,BLKSIZE=262144,ENV=(CV_mmsApiVsn=2,CV_channelPar=ch1)" TRACE 0;
allocate channel ch2 type 'sbt_tape' PARMS="SBT_LIBRARY=/opt/simpana/commvault/Base/libobk.so,BLKSIZE=262144,ENV=(CV_mmsApiVsn=2,CV_channelPar=ch2)" TRACE 0;
setlimit channel ch1 maxopenfiles 8;
setlimit channel ch2 maxopenfiles 8;
sql 'alter system switch logfile';
sql 'alter system switch logfile';
sql 'alter system switch logfile';
backup archivelog all not backed up 1 times;
}

3) Step 3: create the standby database from Commvault RMAN backup:

-- Create standby from RMAN backup
run
{
allocate auxiliary channel ch1 type 'sbt_tape' PARMS="SBT_LIBRARY=/opt/simpana/commvault/Base/libobk.so,BLKSIZE=262144,ENV=(CV_mmsApiVsn=2,CV_channelPar=ch1)" TRACE 0;
allocate auxiliary channel ch2 type 'sbt_tape' PARMS="SBT_LIBRARY=/opt/simpana/commvault/Base/libobk.so,BLKSIZE=262144,ENV=(CV_mmsApiVsn=2,CV_channelPar=ch2)" TRACE 0;
set until time "to_date('<date in format DD-MM-YYYY HH24:MI:SS', 'DD-MM-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')";
duplicate target database to AMS1PC1SBY
spfile
set db_unique_name="ams1pc1sby"
set log_file_name_convert="ams1pc1","ams1pc1","ams1pc1","ams1pc1"
set archive_lag_target="900"
set local_listener="server-db-10.amr.local:12000"
nofilenamecheck;
}

Any idea or suggestions?
Thanks by advance for sharing your exprience.

Kind Regards
