Message: Hi,

Archive logs are shipped to the server of the standby database.
Does someone know a way to clean up these archives - at standby site - using RMAN?

Kind Regards

Message: Hello Lauri,

assuming you have backed up the archives on primary side...

connect to target database (the standby one)
connect to catalog (if you want)
issue something like

run {
allocate channel ch1 type DISK;
delete noprompt archivelog all;
release channel ch1;
}

And the archives are deleted and the fact is known by RMAN.

Best regards,

Bruno Vroman.

Message: @Ales:

This is what I had on the primary site, where the RMAN backups run:
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO APPLIED ON ALL STANDBY BACKED UP 1 TIMES TO DISK;

This is what I have on the standby site:
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO APPLIED ON ALL STANDBY;

Yet, I end up with archives on the standby site that are not properly cleaned up and removes.

@Bruno:

Is it the implementation you have together with the above configurations or do you use only this piece of code?

Kind Regards

Message: Hi,

did you read Franck post at all? His blog post is about bug that is causing Oracle not to delete applied logs on standby and also about workaround how to solve this.
Please read it again.
