Message: Hello Javed,

I think that I don't understand correctly what you mean...

I have the feeling that using an incremental backup of the primary from "before the point reached by the standy" (hence before the file creation on primary side) should be OK, but the best is maybe to test...
If not OK, just rebuild completely the standby or find another way to resync the databases...

But I replied to mention, in case you don't use it, the parameter standby_file_management that keeps the files "in sync" if set to "AUTO" (replication of creation/deletion of files from prim to stby) (some care to be taken with db_file_name_convert)

HTH,

Bruno Vroman.

Message: hello Bruno,

thanks for replying.

let me clear on my question.

when my DR is in sync and if we added a datafile then MRP will apply the logs and create the newly added datafile on DR as standby file management is auto.

but question is that "if my DR is out of sync and i added two datafiles on primary. now for syncing i have to take incremental backup from primary and need to recover the DR with changed block only" but when i will take incremental backup. RMAN will include those newly added datafiles in backup, whereas newly added datafiles are not available on DR because it is out of sync, how i will apply incremental backup on DR site, now how we will over come this situation.

hope the now you got the question.

thanks

Well, I have the feeling that it should be OK, but you don't need feelings... The actual answer is not far: it is just "one test away"...

Best regards,

Bruno.

If you DG is properly configured and there is no network failure the synchronization should work, even with a noticeable delay.
Did you check at standby site if you have any errors in the alert log?

Kind Regards
