Message: Hi Guys

We are planning to migrate to the cloud, now we opted to have one of Oracle Products as Saas offerings.

We currently have the application on-premises but I am surprised Oracle wants us to be on the same versions as their Saas cloud offerings.

Meaning we need to do the upgrades before cloud migrations...

To my understanding Saas is the application from the box...

So why do we have to be on the same version as what we have on on-premises?

Or am I missing something here ?

Thanks

As a software service provider you want to offer the best.
The best version, obviously, is the latest.
Not only because of bugs fixed but also security wise.

Pure logic. You said you're migrating to the cloud? What do you think is easier and safer for Oracle:

a) migrate from old version to new version used in the cloud

b) migrate from same version that is also used in the cloud

What do you think?

Ales

Message: Thanks

It would be easier for Oracle to migrate from the same version than the old version.

I did not understand, I thought as an application from the box we would just need data migration but I agree the same version would be easier.

Thanks a lot

Much appreciated !!!
