Message: Hi everyone,

I am currently in a studying phase for a big migration project (to 19c). I have attended last Mike Dietrich's virtual classrooms about 19c patching/migration and so on, and it was really interesting cause Oracle (and Mike) advise us to use the AUTOUPGRADE tool to migrate / upgrade our databases to new version (from 12.2 to 19c). My question is : have you practised this tool ? what do you think about it ? I may have other questions in case you used it :)
Regards,
Joel

Message: Hi Joël,

Oracle wants all customers to be on 19c, I can understand that and it's good.

I have no experience with this tool and I don't think I will ever be using it. The reason:
Small steps - Large control
Large steps - Small control

Message: Hi Philip,

Last time I migrated my DB (from 11g to 12c) I followed Mike Dietrich's recommandations on his blog, with all the features and so on. So why not being confident again ? :)
I will tell you about this AUTOUPGRADE tool in August.
I can just advise anyone to see Mike's videos and slides about it. Quite interesting (and lots of log files so you can have control as well :)). Actually, I'm on Holidays :)
So have great holidays too and see you in four weeks :)
Regards,
Joel
