Oracle info: oracle 12.2.0.1
Error info: ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress
Error 1033 received logging on to the standby
Message: Hi,

archives are not getting shipped to the standby database.
alert log of standby shows the below error
Error 1033 received logging on to the standby

error from v$archive_dest show this
ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress

im able to connect to dr via net service name and the database is mounted

recreated the password file and copied it onto standby

bounced the databases, but still this error is shown.

is there anything that i'm missing?

Where did you copy the password file ? Why didn't you recreate it on both instances with the same password ? What do you have in SQLNET.ORA file on both servers ?

I have copied the password file before setting up dataguard.
Both the sys users have identical passwords.
I had copied the password files to ORACLE_HOME\DATABASE

and aslo recreated it many times after facing error
