Hi Team
I am busy doing the upgrade from 12cR2 (12.2.0.1) to 19c.
Now, the preupgrade.jar has been running for 2 hours now.
When I check the execPreUpgrade_catCon_catcon_8566.lst I get lots of these lines...
next_proc: Checking if process 0 (id = 8602) is available
next_proc: Checking if process 0 (id = 8602) is available
next_proc: Checking if process 0 (id = 8602) is available

When I check the v$session_longops in the database I can see the below:
Gather Table's Index Statistics
Gather Table's Index Statistics
Gather Table's Index Statistics
Gather Table's Index Statistics
Gather Table's Index Statistics
Gather Table's Index Statistics
Gather Table's Index Statistics
I expect the preupgrade.jar to be faster.
Please help, what should I do?
Thanks in advance... |

I initial checked the v$session_longops on the APP PDB instead of the CDB. Now I can see the below in the CDB...

I will follow the steps in the doc and see if that resolves the issue.
Thanks, Team.

Hi
I don't know if you have registered to Mike Dietrich's blog about database upgrade but you should : it's really a gold mine in which I have found many many many hints about upgrading. May be you should (specially if you are not using Windows and Oracle :) ... which I am (don't have the choice)) use the autoupgrade tool to upgrade your db ?
Regards,
Joel |

I have been reading about the autoupgrade tool from Mike's Upgrade your Database - NOW! blog. It is amazing, most of the issues get handled by this amazing tool and he emphasized that it is now the recommended method for doing upgrades.
Thanks again for your reply.
Much appreciated !!!
